SAGD Utilities Phases 1 & 2, MacKay River SAGD Field

Firebag Technical Solutions was contracted by Apache Corp to work on the Permian Basin, USA, SAGD field development. The target was to develop utilities plant as part of the SAGD technique to extract heavy oil from shallow oil sand formations.

Our scope of work included:

Process design
Mechanical work design
Electrical and instrumentation design
Site wide power distribution
Off-site tanks fabrication
Pipelines and pipe racks assembly
Foundation concrete structure
Structural steel erection

The work on phase 2 of Permian Basin filed is expected to conclude in 2017 with aspirations to produce 400,000 bbl/day of bitumen with minimal environmental impact.
